Good size ice for the kids to learn on.

Now onto learn to skate for hockey.

We signed up one of my kids for PA day camps and hockey lessons. The coaches are very good with kids of all skill levels and my child enjoys the time there. We took the one-on-one lessons and the coaches are able to tailor the lesson to whatever we want to work on.

If my child remains interested in hockey, we will continue using NTR Newmarket to supplement development.

This review is strictly limited to their facility as a birthday party venue. I do not recommend NTR Newmarket for a birthday party. The "party room" is absolutely minuscule. I would not plan a party for any more than 12 attendees (children and adults combined) based on the size of this "party room". Additionally, the "party room" was filthy, particularly the floors which did not appear to have been swept in ages. We were not informed that adults would have to wear helmets to skate (something which I would not have expected, given that public facilities - YMCA, city owned facilities, etc. do not require this). The staff advised me during the party that this had been indicated on my receipt. However, access to the receipt required me to have an account and password with NTR, so I never actually saw the receipt in order to learn this information (we are not regular customers at NTR and booked the facility based on online advertising when our first choice didn't have availability, so I didn't see utility in created an account for this one-off use, not realizing that information other than payment amount would be exclusively indicated on the receipt). This has rather significant implications for running a birthday party, so it should be CLEARLY communicated PRIOR to booking. I see that since our party, NTR has updated the birthday parties section of their website to convey that adults must wear helmets and that the party room can accommodate a party of 15-20 children (this is a gross overestimate of the number of children that could comfortably fit in that room for a party, and I would say at most 12 attendees total). We had 19 children attend the party and there is no way that we could have accommodated all of them in the party room, let alone the adults attending to supervise. Thankfully, staff were accommodating and allowed us to use part of the observation area next to the party room. I commend NTR for taking our feedback to heart and making these updates to their website. This would have been helpful information to have prior to booking. I will not use the facility as a birthday party venue again, and I would not recommend them for birthday parties as they just simply don't have adequate facilities to be a birthday party venue. The East Gwillimbury Sports Complex has lovely facilities for skating birthday parties and I would recommend checking their availability instead. Unfortunately, they didn't have ice time available for our date this year and that's how we came to this disappointing booking. If you require a party room for your party, then I would recommend looking elsewhere, but if you just need ice time, then I'm sure this facility would meet your needs.

Lighting could use upgrade.
Change rooms are small. General maintenance could be better.

The skate to learn clinic during the holidays was perfect. My kids learned to skate and they are so excited about this new skill they learned. The instructors were all great and patient. The price is extremely reasonable.. Thank you to all who taught my children to skate and made this a wonderful experience.

Couldn’t be happier with our kids skating here. Amazing coach to player ratio, great price, quality sessions and my kid leaves every session excited to be back.

The worse experience we have ever had was this winter with NTR club! The instructor was not qualified to teach kids and he basically didn’t know what to do ! Kids were on their own until the supervisor showed up! Very poor quality which I was surprised with such a good review rating!!! Kids were corrected by the supervisor and not the instructor. Not everyone can skate is eligible to be an instructor. When I brought this up to the manager, no action for improvement was offered and just my request for refund was accepted right away!
If I could give zero star I would have done that. My son was on Sundays classes so there might be good instructors in other days but our experience was really bad.
