Liked: Large pitch space
Toilets and showers were spotless looked like they’ve never been used

Disliked: No lighting near pitches we turned up at 5pm when it was dark and it was difficult to park up , our first pitch the EHU wasn’t working.
Not much on site there’s a bar but very fancy for the two of us and closed early.

I've put a lot of money through the till at Westlands restaurant over the last 2 years, but things have gone downhill. Having visited today with family for lunch, we sat for 30 minutes before a drinks order was taken. After well over an hour of sitting with still no food whatsoever, we got up and left. Very poor service and very disappointing given how good the venue used to be.

Liked: Great campsite for a pit stop up north and handy for the A74. Great facilities and good value for money. Walking around the fishing lakes was pleasant for the evening.
Good pitches

Disliked: It seems like camping is a bit of an after thought here unfortunately, as no tap particularly near the camping area (although each caravan pitch obvs had there own) and no picnic bench etc. There was however amazing outdoor seating outside the centre just 25m away which we used when it was quiet, but I wouldn't feel comfy using this though if lots of caravan or generally restaurant/bar users were outside.
There grass area at the back of the centre near the facilities seemed a better place for tents perhaps.
I would definitely come again. Some minor changes may make me stay longer.

We had an excellent stay at Westlands Country Park! The staff are amazing and can't do enough for you, they are all so friendly and helpful with a cheery smile. My husband had a go at clay pigeon shooting while we were there which was a great experience that he really enjoyed. Booking the shooting taster was really easy and the staff in there were lovely too, Iain took my husband out for his session and was a great tutor with lots of interesting stories. There was a great variety of shoots included too so you didn't get bored shooting the same target continuously! The bar and restaurant were lovely and reasonably priced with a wide choice of menu options and big portions of lovely food and delicious cocktails! The Lodge itself was well equipped and clean and overlooked the lake which was lovely when enjoying the hot tub and decking area and provided lovely views of the sunrise and sunset. The location is idyllic and great for a chilled holiday, the only down side is that if you want to go anywhere then you need to drive (although most things are only a short drive) which limited us if we had been having drinks the night before, would have liked some nice walks closer by without having to drive but that certainly didn't ruin our holiday & will definitely return!

Liked: Fully serviced pitches are always nice.
The site is handy for motorway links.
The peacocks are great.
Make sure you try the restaurant, we had a cracking meal in there and the setting is lovely.

Disliked: Shooting and leaf blowing starts at 9am so if you like a lie in take this in to consideration

Liked: Pleasant and large area. So large that we didn't explore half of the site during our 2 night stay.
Good reception, shop, bar and restaurant (although we were caught out by the closing time of 8.30pm). We had fancied a drink after eating out

Disliked: Too far to toilet/bathroom block for tourers dependent on these facilities.
We were fortunate to be there during fine weather.

Gunfire noise at close range during our relaxing breakfast!

Liked: Great sized pitch, all amenities on the pitch too for water etc.

Great on site bar with lots of drinks to choose from and a great menu.

Facilities were nice and new. All clean and well kept. Showers were lovely and hot.

Great surroundings and views, short drive into Annan and close to the motorway for access.

Disliked: Facilities wasn’t warm - likely due to supposedly been “summer” (lol what summer…) but the weather was horrific and a bit cold whilst we was there unfortunately so could have done with the heating on a little bit to warm the room. I’d guess in proper summer and winter it’s a lovely temperature in there though!

No seat or shelf in the shower so nowhere to put clothes etc whilst showering. Water also doesn’t stay in the shower tray and went all over the floor.

Pitch drainage wrong side of the pitch to where the supply was. This meant you could either drive in to use the drainage but not water/EHU or use water/EHU and not drainage unless you have VERY long pipes for one of the two.

Walking from the site isn’t recommended. This isn’t the sites fault but there was no footpaths along any of the roads so you need to cab or drive places. The site gave us a fantastic taxi number which was only £10 into Annan for 6 people.

Liked: Lovely setting. Ideal for exploring. Visited Gretna, Carlisle and Lockerbie.
The club house is beautiful. Didn’t use the restaurant but it appeared popular and clean.
Fully serviced pitches.

Disliked: The shooting noise starts at 9am every morning. Pretty constant throughout sat and sun.
We booked for the fishing but were then told there are no fish as otters had taken up their home in the lake.
Our neighbour said he was also disappointed as that’s why he had booked.
Dog walkers letting their dogs use the camping field behind us as a toilet, off the lead with no supervision . Felt for the campers!
No visible staff about so no deterrent.
Access to the pitches by the camping field are tight if you have a twin axle without a motor mover.
Toilets are a fair walk if you don’t have your own facilities.
Floor quite spongy in showers, felt like it was going to go through.

There were lots of one night stop off caravans/ campers. Expect to be woken early by them packing up as we were there a few days and had different neighbours each night.
