We hadn't been to this range in a couple of years, so we were excited to return to the 100-yard lanes on Sunday. We had a great time, and I felt very safe. Reading some recent reviews, I can see that many complaints come from people who simply don’t follow the rules and don’t take the safety requirements seriously.
Here’s an example: While I was there, a group showed up just after a ceasefire was released, meaning they had to wait until the next one in 20 minutes. During a ceasefire, you use this time to set up your station. Once the next ceasefire is called, everyone unloads and secures their weapons, the range master checks for safety, and then people are allowed to walk downrange to switch out targets. Anyone who stays back has to remain behind the yellow line for safety.
However, one of the guys in this new group ignored these rules—while others were downrange, he crossed the yellow line and picked up his rifle. The range master saw this and immediately yelled over the PA for him to get back. Some might think the range masters are strict, but they're there to protect everyone. The range is not a place for socializing or bending rules. It’s a serious, controlled environment, and following the rules is crucial for everyone’s safety.
In my opinion, the range masters don’t owe anyone extra politeness—your life is more important than someone’s hurt feelings. This range is a fantastic place to practice, as long as everyone respects the rules.

I typically don’t feel compelled to leave reviews, but the way the staff treated my friends and I was absolutely appalling. We came in and were immediately met with the nastiest attitude from shop owner. He talked down to us like we were children, and at one point he even scoffed at one of my friends about whether she had “completed elementary school”. The prices for admission and ammo were pretty insane, and the shop owner made it seem like checking us out was an inconvenience to him altogether. Now, after the completely sour experience in the shop, we began walking towards to lanes with our UNLOADED & BOXED firearms & one unloaded rental and was immediately screamed at by a man outside (Dan?) like we were about to shoot up the place. He made us walk back to the shop porch, place our weapons down, leave all of our bags, and step away from them while he went to inspect them. It wasn’t until I began to audibly complain about how horribly rude and disrespectful that the staff were towards us that Dan & the shop man began to slightly change their tone. The icing on the cake was the fact that they told us that they would “allow” us to stay until 6pm to shoot, as if they were doing a favor for us.. which absolutely made no sense to me considering they… close at 6? If you close the lanes before that time it should be stated that all shooting ends at 5:45 instead. Three of the members of my group were experienced shooters while me and another were very new, and I can’t stress enough to stay away from this range ESPECIALLY if you are a beginner looking to learn. Regardless if you are or not though, you will be treated like a complete child, yelled at, and insulted. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!

First time I went to this range was last year. Pretty good experience, it was a Wednesday, slow day. Had a nephew with me. I am 54, prior military, prior LEO and grew up shooting on cattle ranch since I was 5. About 20 minutes later, the other people were done, and RO stated he would not stop every 20 minutes due to us being the only ones. Cool. Shot 5.56 w/FMJ's. No problem. He walked past us several times as we shot.
Onto my second visit with my wife about 2.5 months ago. Assigned my pistol range lanes for spouse and I. Front desk gentleman stated when we were ready to go to rifle range, come in and let him know. We finished shooting pistols after about 45 minutes. Range was cold. RO stated of we wanted to go to rifle range, go inside, let front desk know, and we could gather firearms and wait behind red line, just like when you enter range when hot. Remember, he checked our firearms as he did with the others, range is cold. Came back, grabbed safe firearms, all unloaded and in cases, and walked down to assigned rifle lanes, BEHIND RED LINE, and laid cases down and was just about to take a seat. This RO decides to jump my shit in front of everyone, and berate me, and asked what I was doing by moving down to rifle land with firearms. I started to respond by repeating what he told me, in front of my spouse, about moving down to rifle lane after assignment and I was behind red line after he inspected our pistols, which again, were all in cases secure. He continued to yell and stated I was not allowed to move down firing range until range was hot. What? Range was COLD and I was doing what he originally requested. He than berated me stating rules and safety. Then after setting targets, range went hot. I started shooting (AR15) AND on my during my second mag, approached me and stated "I need to inspect you ammo". I cleared and gave him a round. Proceeded to stated no FMJ's at this range. What? I stated, being respectful, in ALL OF MY years of shooting at ranges, indoor, and outdoor, I have never seen no FMJ rule. I asked what am I supposed to shoot with AR 5.56? After going into lawyers and reasons why, due to dirt going down to limestone, and the possibility of fragments coming back at shooters, AND, possible fragments ricocheting due to homes being within a mile, that their "lawyers" stated it would not be allowed. WTF? I have NEVER in my life seen or had a 5.56. or any other round ricochet back on an outdoor range, ranch, desert, or anywhere and hit me, much less a house 1 mile away. I stated stated all my time in military, police, and shooting since 5 (now 54) this has never occurred in my presence nor anyone else I know. He then began to be real nice to me (probably realizing how much of an ass he was before) and started talking about safety, complaints for new neighborhoods since they have been built etc etc. Then stated I can continue to shoot if I purchased their HOLLOW POINTS. WTF does range time with HOLLOW POINTS? (Unless you are sighting in new hunting rounds etc). I stated no thanks, and we left. The condescending attitude and the outburst was very unprofessional, uncalled for and not only that, I did what he told me to do. Never going back, ever. Went to Austin gun club with a friend, and shared my experience with several people, and they ALL stated, been there once, will never go back. Find another range. Austin gun club was awesome, and, you can shoot FMJ's ALL DAY LONG. Same terrain.

I don't recommend this range unless you need to use 200-300 yard lanes.
Things I like about this outdoor range:
- Lots of distance options
- Covered and seats for each lane
- Can stay all day, only have to pay to enter is nice
Huge red flags from this range:
- Prices. $1/round for .223/5.56. My friend who had to buy some experienced 2 failure to fire malfunctions in the first 30 rounds. The box didn't have any brand on it and it was clearly their own remanufactured stuff.
- Prices again. $50 for first timers and $25 after that is terrible for an outdoor range. You're basically asking new people to go somewhere else.
- They have some weird rules about FMJ on certain calibers too, see the attached photos. Have never seen rules like them anywhere else.
- The fudd energy you get here is so strong you yourself feel like you're retired.
I'd rather go somewhere else. No matter what though, bring your own ammo before you go.

First time visit. Great outdoor range, has it all, pistol, rifle, 50, 100, 200, 300 yrds. Have clean restrooms, ample shooting supplies, reasonable prices, very friendly staff.
Note: They are not there to be your babysitter, they seem unfriendly, they are NOT, they ARE friendly! They are there to run a SAFE gun range, if they seem rude or unfriendly, that's your perception. There are also some negative reviews about safety and how this range has a ZERO tolerance for UN-safe behavior/practices. It's VERY SIMPLE, follow THEIR RULES, or don't go there. Yes, their MAIN focus is SAFETY and then FUN. While I was there, a guy broke RULE #1, do NOT have a weapon in hand while the range has stopped for target changes. He gave the range master lip and was promptly escorted out.
If you do not like being "corrected" about yours and OTHERS safety, then go somewhere else and risk being shot. If you go, NOTE the bullet holes on the benches and remember someone was NOT following the rules. I would rather get a stern talking to than get shot by some careless idiot. The rules there are BASIC, CLEAR and designed TO KEEP YOU AND OTHERS SAFE!
Overall, great place, great staff, clean ranges, was there all day, used all the ranges for one price. Will definitely go back and I highly recommend.

Great range. Staff is strick with everyone, which I personally like. So follow the rules or you might kicked out!

First time here. Perfect weather, so we decided to go to an outdoor range.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Eagle Peak has everything you need for a good shooting session. They are very concerned with safety and are very consciences about it. The facilities are quite adequate. Nothing fancy, but I'm not the ultra fancy type. It's a drive out there, but worth it.
Heads up...... hey don't take credit cards, but have an ATM onsite. Also, first time customers need to buy a $15 membership along with the daily $15 fee.

I don't understand these bad reviews. LOVE this range. People are great. They helped me bore sight my rifle and everything. You want gun ranges to be strict!
