I had a last minute change of plans for my Vancouver Island adventure week so I called up Joel to see if they had last minute availability for some offshore fishing. We were lucky enough that they had availability, and what and adventure it was. We stayed in one of their nicely appointed and cozy floating homes with a full day of fishing and Hot Springs exploring.

Joel was a breeze to communicate with the whole time and we were picked up by Joel and Luc, our crew for the adventure, right at the dock. They made us feel like part of their crew from the moment we stepped foot on their boat and they took care of everything for our day of Vancouver Island boating adventures. We explored the hot springs in the morning while they scouted out where we should start fishing. We then went fishing for Ling Cod and Salmon and we had immediate success the rest of the day due to their expertise.

At the end of the day they packed all of our fish for us to make it easy to bring home, very convenient. After an evening of fresh fish and crab in our house they brought us back to the dock the next morning with smiles on our faces and fish in the cooler.

Had a charter on May 7, 2022 to go and fish for Chinook Salmon! Brett picked us up at the dock and off we went!
Not having fished in almost 40 years, Brett was very understanding and had a lot of patience with us! He was very clear on his explanations and extremely knowledgeable.
Explained the equipment and the setup and exactly what to do if we got a bite! Brett had set our first line and within 2 minutes had our first bite. I was able to bring in a salmon and Brett knew exactly what to do to get it onboard! (It was quite a fight for him to net as the water was very rough)!
He moved us to a calmer area as our safety (and our churning stomachs) was his main concern. Swells were 4+ feet at the time!
He knew the area like the back of his hand as was always explaining where we were and pointing out all the points of interest and a bit of the history!
Only one fish that day, but I will definitely use Strawberry Island fishing again next time I’m in Tofino!
Brett’s wife Pearl was very accommodating as well, gave us a tour of their island and explained our surroundings! With her being raised there, she is a wealth of knowledge and taught us a lot!
