Had a fantastic experience fishing with John. Weather was cold and rainy but he provided us with comfortable rain gear that kept us warm and dry. Put us onto a huge haul of fish in rough conditions and left us with a big smile on our faces. The dinner at wolf in the fog was the icing on the cake.

I don’t give 5/5 often but Johnny at Tonquin Charters runs a tight ship! He knows these waters like the back of his hand, his boat handling and demeanour with the ladies in some bumpy water was fantastic and they felt safe with him in charge. If you want a fantastic fishing and sightseeing adventure from Tofino then I highly, highly recommend Tonquin Charters.

We recently had the pleasure of going on our second fishing charter with John, and it was an experience none of us will soon forget! John truly made our outing special, accommodating our party of 10, which included my 92-year-old grandpa. His exceptional experience, friendly welcoming demeanor, and expert guidance ensured that everyone had a fantastic time, regardless of age or experience.

From the moment we boarded the boat, John's knowledge of the best fishing spots and his top-notch equipment made it clear that we were in good hands. He took the time to explain everything and even shared some fascinating fishing tips that had everyone reeling in their catches with smiles from ear to ear—might I say, there were a tear or two as well!

The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly my grandpa catching his first-ever big fish! John was incredibly supportive and helped make this milestone moment truly memorable for him. The entire crew had a blast, and it was heartwarming to see the joy on my grandpa's face.

First time fishing in BC did not disappoint! Despite the rainy weather and choppy seas, Pablo helped us catch some monster fish, including some the tastiest salmon and lingcod we’ve ever had. Pablo was amazing and it was clear that he loved to fish and help others experience it as well. He was very knowledgeable about where and what to fish and took us to all the good spots. Had some great conversations with him and he was always happy to answer our questions. Whether you’re an experienced fisherman or it’s your first time, I can’t recommend Tonquin Fishing Charters and Pablo enough! Also, if you’d like to being your catch home with you, check out Naas Foods right next to the parking for the fishing, they cleaned, cut, and packaged all 50 pounds of our fish for us to eat for our entire 2 week stay!

What a trip! Unreal experience with Johnny. Johnny runs a great charter, boat was set up perfectly for us all, lots of different supplies, great bait as well as new rods. Johnny knows all the hot spots and we came back to the dock with the catch of the day (week, or month even!?). The fish box was so full on the way back we had to stand!! haha. Great memories through and through, definitely will be back! thanks again Johnny!!

John is such an amazing guide. He patiently answered all my questions and even helped us print our fishing licenses since we were from out of town and didn't have one. I had reached out to Tofino Fish Guides and despite asking 3 times what boat we'd be on, they didn't answer my question. John took the time to make sure I had answers to everything I needed. We caught SO many bc spot prawns and crabs! I'd highly recommend booking a tour with John. I definitely will be when I'm in Tofino again. April and May seems to be the best time to go if you want prawns, crabs and to fish as well.
